So this morning I was scrolling through Twitter when I saw this meme comparing modern politics to 1930s Germany. Got me thinking – wait, why exactly did Hitler have such a burning hate for Jews anyway? Felt like I kinda knew but not really, you know? Decided to dive down that rabbit hole before breakfast.
Started simple – pulled out my phone and typed “Hitler Jews why” into YouTube. Watched three different explainer videos while making coffee. One history channel guy kept saying “scapegoat” over and over like a mantra. Made me scribble that word in my notebook: “Scapegoat – people you blame for your own problems”.
Then I hauled my laptop to the kitchen table. Googled “Hitler’s early life”. Found this wild story about how young Hitler applied to art school in Vienna and got rejected. Turns out the professor who failed him was Jewish! Some historians think that rejection planted the first seed of resentment. Dunno if that’s totally true though – feels almost too convenient, right?
Got deeper into it:Two main reasons kept popping up everywhere:
- Germany was super poor after losing WW1, money was worthless
- Meanwhile some Jewish families were doing okay financially
Hitler basically went: “See those guys? They’re why you’re hungry!” Brilliant but evil strategy – hungry people will believe anything.
Most mind-blowing thing I learned? Hitler didn’t just hate Jews randomly. He actually believed in this made-up science called “eugenics” saying blonde Germans were the “master race”. Like some messed-up Marvel villain origin story but real. Found photos of Nazi posters showing Jewish people as disgusting rats – legit propaganda straight from hell.
Checked my watch – whoa, two hours disappeared! Shut everything down feeling kinda queasy. What surprised me most? Realizing it wasn’t really about religion at all. Mostly about power and money disguised as race science. Crazy how humans can convince themselves anything justifies cruelty.
Gotta say though – biggest lesson wasn’t about history. It’s about how easily people get manipulated when they’re scared or struggling. Still happens today with different groups. Makes you wanna double-check everything politicians say.
