I’ve always been curious about the stories of the twelve disciples, especially how James Alphaeus met his end. So, I decided to dig into it myself.
First, I started with the easy stuff. I hit up my local library. I walked in, headed straight to the religious studies section, and started rummaging through the old books. I pulled out tons of dusty tomes about the Bible and early Christian history. I spent hours sitting there, flipping through pages, looking for any mention of James Alphaeus and how he died. But it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. There was so much information, and most of it didn’t really focus on what I was after.

Then, I thought, “Hey, the internet’s gotta have something.” So, I booted up my computer, opened up my browser, and started typing in all sorts of search terms. “How did James Alphaeus die?” “James Alphaeus biography.” I clicked through page after page of search results. Some websites seemed legit, but a lot of them were just full of made – up junk. I had to be really careful to separate the wheat from the chaff.
I also joined some online religious discussion groups. I posted my question there, asking if anyone had any real – deal info on James Alphaeus. People started chiming in, sharing what they knew or what they’d heard. Some of the stories were pretty wild, but I tried to take them all in and figure out what might be true.
After all that searching, I finally found some reliable sources. It turns out there are a few different theories about how James Alphaeus met his death. Some say he was stoned to death, while others believe he was beheaded. There isn’t a 100% consensus, but based on what I read from some well – respected religious scholars, the stoning theory seems to have a bit more weight.
So, that’s my little adventure in finding out about James Alphaeus. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. I feel like I’ve learned a lot about this lesser – known disciple and the early days of Christianity. And who knows, maybe I’ll go on another history – hunting adventure soon!
