The other night, I was getting ready to put my kid to bed when he suddenly said, “Daddy, tell me a dinosaur story!” I was confused. I’m usually okay with fairy tales, but dinosaurs? To be honest, I couldn’t even remember their names myself.
There was no other way, in order not to let my child down, I could only go ahead. First, I took out my cell phone to look up the information, but the result was full of technical terms, which made my head spin. Forget it, why don’t I just make up a few stories myself?
I thought about it and decided to tell three different dinosaur short stories, each with a different character of the main character. One is brave, one is gentle, and one is smart. This is also interesting for children to listen to, and I can also organize the content.
The first story: Triceratops Dillon – a brave little hero!
A long, long time ago, the earth was full of tall trees and dense jungles. There were no human beings then, just all kinds of animals, including the main character of today’s story, a little Triceratops named Dillon.
Dillon was different from the other Triceratops in that although he was young, he was very brave. He had three horns on his head and a thick layer of skin on his body, which made him look very impressive. But the most admirable thing was that it was especially bold.
One day, a terrible roar came from the forest, and all the little animals were frightened and hid in their holes, not daring to come out. When Dillon heard the sound, instead of running away, he followed it.
It turned out to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex that had broken into this forest, and it was so hungry that it wanted to find something to eat. Seeing Dillon approaching, the Tyrannosaurus rex opened its mouth and showed its sharp teeth, wanting to scare it away.
But Dillon was not afraid at all, it stood up straight, looked at the Tyrannosaurus Rex with firm eyes and said, “This is our home, you shouldn’t come here to make trouble.” The Tyrannosaurus Rex didn’t expect this little Triceratops to dare to talk to it, froze for a moment, and actually slowly backed away.
From then on, Dillon became a little hero in the forest. Whenever night came, all the other little animals would gather around him and listen to him tell how he had scared off the T-Rex that day.

The second story: Lisa the Compassionate Dragon – the most caring mom of all
The next story I’m going to tell is about a loving mother dragon called Lisa. She lived in a vast grassland and was a very gentle mom.
Lisa took care of her baby every day, taking it to find food, teaching it to walk and playing with it. She always saved the best for her baby.
One day, a group of migrating dinosaurs came to the grassland. These dinosaurs were moving from one place to another to live. On the way, one of the little dinosaurs got sick, fell out of the group, and lay alone in the grass with no one to take care of it.
Seeing this scene, Lisa immediately ran over and gently took the little dinosaur in her arms, warming it with her own body heat. Then she looked around for some plants that could cure the disease, and helped the little dinosaur to wipe its wounds and feed it.
Under Lisa’s careful care, the little dinosaur soon recovered. Later, when its original tribe found it, they were all very grateful to Lisa. Since then, Lisa not only had her own child, but also a friend, and they often played together in the grassland.
The third story: Katherine the Stegosaurus – the smartest little brain ever
For my last story, I’m going to tell about a Stegosaurus named Catherine. He lived in a green jungle and looked cool with a row of bone plates like blades on his back.
But the best thing about Katherine wasn’t its looks, it was that it was extra smart. When the animals in the jungle were in trouble, the first thing they thought of was to ask Catherine for help.
One day, the jungle suddenly caught fire, and the fire got bigger and bigger, and it was about to burn everyone’s home. All the animals panicked and didn’t know what to do.
At that moment, Catherine calmed down, thought carefully, and said, “We can go to a nearby stream to get water and put out the fire with water.” After saying that, it began to lead the group to make tools – simple buckets of water tied with branches and leaves.
Together, everyone ran to the creek to fetch water, and then ran back to pour water on the fire. After hours of hard work, the fire was finally put out.
Everyone gathered around Kathryn and cheered, calling her the “Little Wise Man of the Jungle”. From then on, anyone who had a problem would come to Katherine for help.
Summary
After telling these three stories, doesn’t it seem that each dinosaur has its own characteristics? Some are brave, some are kind, and some are smart. In fact, these stories are not only told to children, but also tell us adults that everyone can help others, protect their families and solve problems in their own way.
Next time you tell your child a story, you can also try to make up one yourself, not necessarily read from a book. As long as you tell it from the heart, your child will love it.
I hope these stories of little dinosaurs will bring a little warmth and happiness to your children before they go to sleep. Maybe they’ll even dream that they’ve become a brave Triceratops, a gentle Mercy Dragon or a clever Stegosaurus!
