My version: People chained watching shadows on a cave wall think that’s real life. Break free, see actual sunshine – it’s blinding and scary. Truth hurts at first. Don’t be mad at the guy who escaped trying to tell you shadows aren’t the whole story.
Thursday night I tried explaining my dumbed-down quotes to my kid brother. Used normal words, pizza shop analogies, and asked “does this make ANY sense to you?” He nodded. Actually nodded! That tiny victory proved something big.
Realized this: Half the “wisdom” industry complicates stuff to sound smart (and sell books). Socrates himself argued with regular dudes in the marketplace! My Thursday night pizza talk with a teen was probably closer to his vibe than any lecture.
Finished Friday morning. Still don’t get some parts. Wisdom hits different when you strip off the academic glitter. Feels… solid. Like discovering tools anyone can use, not locked away in university libraries.
