The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats – Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Today we will tell a very interesting fairy tale called “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats.” This is a classic fairy tale from Germany about a mother goat and her seven children who outwit a bad wolf. This story is not only exciting, but also teaches children some important safety lessons.

I. Mother’s Instructions Before Leaving

Once upon a time, there was a mother goat who had seven adorable children. One day, the mother goat had to go into the forest to find food. Before leaving, she called all her children to her side and said to them seriously:

“Children, I must go out for a while. You must be careful and not open the door to strangers, especially that big gray wolf. He is very dangerous and will pretend to be someone else to trick you.”

The little goats nodded and said, “Mother, we will remember!”

Although a little worried, the mother goat left home with peace of mind.

II. The Big Bad Wolf Comes

Soon, there was a knock on the door. A loud voice shouted, “Children, your mother is back! Open the door quickly!”

The little goats heard this and immediately said, “No, that’s not our mother. Our mother’s voice is very nice, but yours is terrible!”

It turned out to be the big gray wolf. It wanted to eat the little goats, so it pretended to be their mother.

Hearing the little goats say this, the wolf hurried to a store, bought a bottle of something that could make his voice sound softer, and swallowed it in one gulp. His voice indeed became as gentle as the mother goat’s.

He went back to the door and shouted, “Children, Mom is really back! Hurry up and open the door!”

This time, the little goats heard the voice clearly, but when they saw the hands outside the door, they said, “No, our mom doesn’t have such dark hands!”

The wolf had to think of another plan. It found the miller and got some flour to rub on its hands, making them look white.

The third time, it knocked on the door again, “Open the door quickly, children! Mom is back!”

This time, the voice was right, and the hands were white. The little goats thought it was really their mother who had returned, so they opened the door.

III. Were the little goats eaten?

As soon as the wolf entered the house, it revealed its true colors. It opened its big mouth and ate all six little goats. Only the smallest one hid in the clock box inside the house and was not discovered.

After eating its fill, the wolf lay down under the tree and fell asleep, satisfied.

At that moment, the real mother goat returned. As soon as she entered the house, she realized something was wrong: the door was open, and the house was in disarray.The smallest lamb jumped out of the clock box and told its mother what had happened.

The mother goat was very sad when she heard this, but she quickly calmed down. She decided to rescue her children.

IV. The Brave Mother Goat Rescues Her Children

The mother goat found the big gray wolf still sleeping. She gently opened the wolf’s belly, and miraculously, the six little lambs were still alive!

The little goats crawled out of the wolf’s belly one by one and hugged their mother tightly.

The mother goat said, “Now we have to find a way to punish this bad wolf.”

So, she and her children found several large stones, stuffed them into the wolf’s belly, and then sewed up the wolf’s belly with needles and thread.

After doing all this, the mother goat and her kids hid and waited to see what would happen next.

V. The Bad Wolf Received His Punishment

After a while, the wolf woke up and felt extremely thirsty. He wanted to go to the well to drink some water.

When he bent down to drink, the stones in his stomach were too heavy, and he fell into the well and never came back up.

Just like that, the bad wolf got what he deserved.

VI. What does this story teach us?

This is a story about wisdom, courage, and family love. It teaches us:

  • Don’t trust strangers easily;
  • Be cautious of invitations or gifts from strangers;
  • Stay calm when you encounter danger and think of ways to protect yourself;
  • Love and unity among family members are very important.

Just like the little goat in the story, we must learn to distinguish between truth and falsehood and not be deceived by appearances. If someone pretends to be someone you know, ask them more questions or call to confirm their identity.

If you are a parent, you can use this story to teach your children how to be cautious around strangers and enhance their safety awareness.
