Sleeping Beauty is one of the most popular stories in Grimm’s Fairy Tales. It tells the story of a beautiful princess who is cursed and falls into a deep sleep until she is awakened a hundred years later by a prince’s true love’s kiss and eventually lives happily ever after. This story is not only full of fantasy, but also contains many profound life lessons.
1. The Birth of a Princess and the Fall of a Curse
Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen who finally welcomed their daughter. This little princess was very beautiful, much to the delight of the king and queen. To celebrate her birth, the king decided to hold a grand banquet and invited many guests, including many magicians with magical abilities.
At the banquet, each magician gave the little princess wonderful blessings, such as cleverness, beauty, kindness and so on. However, just when everyone was immersed in the joy, a female magician who was not invited suddenly barged in. She shouted angrily, “This princess will be stabbed by a spindle and die at the age of fifteen!”
Why was this enchantress so vicious? It turned out that she was so humiliated by not being invited that she took revenge on everyone with a curse. This sent the entire party into a panic.
However, fortunately, there was another kind magician who stepped forward. She said, “Although I can’t completely eliminate this curse, I can mitigate its power. The princess will not die, but will fall into a 100-year slumber.”
In order to protect the princess, the king immediately ordered all the spindles in the country to be seized and destroyed, hoping that this would prevent the curse from happening.

2. The Growth of the Princess and the Fulfillment of the Curse
As time went by, the little princess grew up. She became smarter, more beautiful and gentle, and became a girl loved by all. However, fate always seems to love to play jokes.
On her fifteenth birthday, the princess was left alone in the palace. Feeling bored, she began to wander around the palace. Walking from room to room, she finally walked into an old bell tower.
Inside the bell tower was a narrow staircase, at the end of which was a door with a golden key stuck in it. Out of curiosity, the princess turned the key and the door opened with a creak. She found an old woman sitting inside, spinning thread.
“Hello, Granny, what are you doing here?” the princess asked. The princess asked.
“I’m spinning thread.” The old woman replied.
“This is quite interesting to spin!” The princess said, reaching out to try it out. However, the moment she touched the spindle, the curse was fulfilled – the princess fell to the ground and fell into a deep slumber.
Kids, did you guess it? The old woman is actually the enchantress who cast the curse!
Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of another magician, the princess did not die, but went into a 100-year-long slumber. Even more amazingly, the entire kingdom fell into slumber with her, even the king and queen. Soon, a dense hedge of rose thorns grew around the royal palace, covering the entire palace tightly.
3. The Arrival of the Prince and the Lifting of the Curse
Time flew by, and a hundred years passed. One day a young prince came to this mysterious land. He was filled with curiosity when he saw the rose bushes blooming around the royal palace. As he approached, the hedge of rose thorns automatically parted to make way for him.
The prince walked through the hedge and entered the sleeping palace. He saw that everyone in the compound was still asleep, as if time had stood still. He continued on inside and finally came to the old bell tower.
Pushing open the door of the small room, the prince saw the sleeping princess. She was still so beautiful and touching, as if she had only closed her eyes to rest. The prince was so mesmerized by her beauty that he couldn’t help but lean down and give her a kiss.
At that very moment, the princess opened her eyes and gazed fondly at the prince. The curse was lifted! Not only did the princess awaken, but the whole kingdom came back to life. The king, the queen, and all the subjects woke up, looking at each other in amazement and excitement at what had happened.
Soon after, the prince and the princess had a grand wedding. From then on, they lived happily ever after, until old age.
Words you want to tell your children
1. Be tolerant of others
In this story, the enchantress cast a vicious curse on the innocent little princess because she was not invited to the banquet. This behavior reflects her narrow-minded character. Children, we also encounter some unfair things in our lives, but we should learn to be tolerant and understanding, and not hold grudges because of small things.
2. The Power of Goodwill
Though the curse could not be completely removed, another magician mitigated its harm through the efforts of goodwill. This tells us that even in the face of difficulties, we can help others in our own way to make things better.
3. Perseverance and Hope
Although the princess slept for a hundred years, she eventually waited for her own happiness. This shows that no matter how difficult the situation is, if you keep hope, you will always have a bright future.
Through the story of Sleeping Beauty, we can not only feel the wonder of the fairy tale world, but also learn how to face the challenges in life with a positive attitude. I hope every child can be like the princess in the story, with a kind heart and strong faith!
