Where I Started My Hunt
Okay, so I wanted solid facts about the Book of Enoch, right? Total noob move first: I just typed “Book of Enoch facts” into a regular search engine. Big mistake. Got flooded with websites ranging from kinda flaky to full-on weird stuff about giants and conspiracies. Felt overwhelming and, honestly, I couldn’t tell what was legit. Spent like 40 minutes clicking useless links. Felt like an idiot.
Shifting Gears & Hitting Walls
Then I got smarter. Figured maybe universities or libraries would have good stuff. Searched for “Book of Enoch scholarly research” and “Book of Enoch university resources”. Way, way better. Started finding actual papers and articles. But oh man, paywalls everywhere! Hit one site after another asking for cash to see the full articles. Super annoying. Also, the writing was super dense, like reading concrete. Made my head hurt. Facts were there, buried under complexity.
Finding Gold (Mostly!)
Got stubborn. Found some sites listing university libraries with free online stuff. Took some digging. Ended up spending serious time on two specific sites focused on old religious texts:
- One looked like it hadn’t been updated since 1997, but shockingly, it had some clear breakdowns of which parts of the Book of Enoch come from where (Ethiopian vs. Greek vs. Dead Sea bits). Like a cheat sheet!
- The other had actual scans of really old books. Felt like treasure. Found one book written in 1893 (!) translated into English that was just listing facts about Enoch chapter by chapter. Slow going, but felt reliable.
Also checked videos, sort of. Watched two lectures from university professors posted online. Hit or miss. One was amazing – clear, simple explanations about why certain parts of Enoch weren’t in the Bible. The other? Guy mumbled, rambled about stuff off topic. Good info in there maybe, but hard to pull out.
My Go-To Resources Now
So, after all that hassle, what actually worked best?
- Old Academic Websites: Ugly, but often put up by actual scholars. Look for university domains.
- Digitized Old Books: Libraries scan stuff. Search for “public domain book Book of Enoch” or “early translation Book of Enoch”. You need patience, but raw facts inside.
- Open Courseware Lectures: Some university lectures are free online. Search “Book of Enoch lecture” and look for .edu sites. Watch out for ramblers!
- Library Catalogs (Online!): Surprisingly helpful. Search “Book of Enoch scholarly article”. See what comes up, even if you need a library card or face paywalls later.
The main lesson? Gotta be a detective. Regular searches waste time. Start academic and brace yourself for slow digging. Forget easy answers; finding real Enoch facts is work. But totally possible!
